About us: Bi Beo is a new sound in
gaelic music originating from the island of North Uist in the Outer Hebrides.
Our music is derived from the very essence of all that is around us and a passion
for the culture and music of the islands. Bi Beo is in the process of completing
their debut album at the beginning of February called Beo an Dùil
and features the award winning track, Seann Daoine, as well as another 9 newly
written Gaelic songs.
Songs/music: The songs and music of Bi Beo are steeped in the tradition of the Hebrides yet the arrangements and lyrics are of a modern vein. Many of the songs focus on the human element of life in this peripheral location and the effect the weather, loneliness, love and sadness have on the mind, heart and soul. The melodies that accompany the songs are reflective of these emotions and awaken the mind to relive and reflect.
All songs and music for Bi Beo is composed and co written by Kevin De Las Casas and James MacLetchie giving the group an original and new sound in gaelic music as well as enabling them to produce a sound that is based on daily living and steeped in the traditional ethos of Hebridean culture.
