Amri SAUREL was born in Montpellier on June 14th 1965. The youngest of three, she grew up in a teaching environment on her father’s side and a medical environment on her mother’s side.
Singing
for an audience seems an impossible dream to fulfil at the time, so, she sings
for herself only. She listens to French singers of the 70s and 80s on the radio
and has a strong liking for French singers such as Charles AZNAVOUR and Michel
BERGER...
Medical studies becoming a priority in her life, she has to put her artistic aspirations in the background. After graduating from Nursing School, she works as a private nurse for 14 years. She masters in therapeutic communication techniques which she still successfully practices today.
In 2001, she takes
singing lessons but soon yearns for something else. . She enters the world of
musical creation. Writing and composing become her everyday life. Then, she is
introduced to Michel TARDIEU who is later to become her pianist. He is touched
by her style and sensibility.
By the books she reads , her philosophy and experience
of life, Amri treasures the sound of words , their meanings and the feelings they
convey. Her moto is “patience and determination”. Amri is said to be
a touching sensitive and romantic person.
The oriental culture becomes at that
period a very important source of inspiration for her. She decides to learn the
Arabic language. She travels and feeds on oriental poetry and music.
She has
some of her songs translated in Arabic by Mabrouk ABDENBI and performs them on
stage for an enthusiastic audience.
At that same period another important event
occurs. She meets Christel BUFFARD. Together they will create Kyriel Productions
in June 2006. As associates, they produce Amri’s first album entitled “SUBTIL”.
During her shows, she sings solo, backed up by her pianist and performs in various concert halls in France and abroad. The texts of her songs are now acknowledged to be of a high poetical value influenced as they are by oriental poetry. She sings in French, English and Arabic.
